Basic Course Introduction


Welcome to our Basic Cake Decorating Certificate Course. We hope to give you a more guided set by step experience with this new course to help you work through the basics and start practicing your skills before you move on to other Cake Projects from out seasons past and present.  


Course Sections

  • 1. Getting Started - We review Materials and Equipment Needed, Recipes used for decorating, How to use pastry bags, Setting up your practice board, Tips for baking, and Icing cakes to prepare for decorating.
  • 2. Piping Practice - Covers 5 Techniques including: lines, Dots, Stars, Rosettes and Shells
  • 3. Piped Flower Practice - Includes 4 Basic flowers and Basic Leaves to help you start making your own floral masterpieces
  • 4. Cake Projects- Includes 3 individual Cake projects to practice your skills

Watch the first section of videos

Make a batch of buttercream(make more as needed)

Watch and Work on the piped skills section

Watch and Work on piped flowers section

Practice Icing a cake

Use your iced cake to complete one of the cake projects we recommend starting with the Rosette Cake

Complete the other two cake designs for additional practice

Take the quiz
